Forum Title: Fiberglass Cellar Door
I saw a cellar door being put in on a home improvement show on A&E. Itd be perfect for my cellar door, but i googled it and cant find it anywhere. Has anyone heard of this or have any idea where i can get one. It closely resembled a truck bed cover with a big hump in the middle. Any links will be appreciated. J.S.

Welcome to the forums Mary! I'm not a carpenter but I've painted more than a few windows trimmed out the way you want. I believe they install the apron [moulding below the sill] first, that gives them a better way to secure the sill. The sill is either butted up to stop at the bottom of the window [caulk the joint] or that stop is removed [looks best imo] and the sill takes it's place. I'm sure one or more of our carpenters will chime in later with better advice

I think I saw that same program. I can't remember the name of it either. And, I haven't been able to find it anywhere on the internet. Did you have any luck? Years later, I have a house that we just bought that needs a new cellar door. Go figure.

I posted that thread for my dads house and we could never locate one, so we went with one similar to Bilco Classic Series Residential Basement Access Doors, In stock, great price We found it local in Kc for about $350 and we used spray expanding foam on the inside to insulate it. Turned out pretty good. Hope that helps...
